Calibration of Pressure Switch

The objective of this method statement is to provide general guidelines for calibrating Pressure gauge at customer’s premises.

PROJECT NAME : __________
Location : __________

Scope
Scope of this method statement covers the following topics.
  • Preparation
  • Calibration
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Calibration report information

Reference Procedure
Phoenix Calibration Technical Manual- PCW-P02:2021.

Master Equipment
Pressure Indicator, Pressure Pump, Manifold, Cylinder, Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge.

Preparation prior to Calibration
  • Reach the calibration location accompanied by the site engineer or In-charge.
  • Check the environment suitability to execute the calibration process.
  • Get the pressure switch location details from site engineer / In-charge.
  • Make sure the pressure switch inlet pressure control has been closed and switch is depressurized. If not inform the site engineer / in-charge.

Calibration
  • Carefully remove the pressure switch from it’s location.
  • Check the pressure switch physical condition and make sure it is free from defects.
  • Clean the pressure switch by using appropriate mean.
  • Note the switch details like range, make, model, serial no., location, ID No., etc. on the relevant worksheet.
  • Prepare the pressure gauge calibrator.
  • Connect the switch to be calibrated to the pressure calibrator.
  • Check the set pressure value and apply the pressure to the switch.
  • Check the open / close status of pressure switch, when the applied pressure reaches the set pressure.
  • Note down the pressure value and the switch status .
  • Complete the calibration worksheet and paste the calibration identification sticker on the appropriate part of the pressure switch.
  • Fix the pressure switch on its location with accompanied by the site engineer / In-charge.

Acceptance Criteria
  1. For pressure switch with class 1 accuracy, 1%FS
  2. For pressure switch with class 1.5 accuracy, 1.5%FS
  3. For pressure switch with no class specified, accuracy will be obtained from the user / customer.
